The power of the horse—it’s a concept as old as antiquity and as modern as the way we measure the strength of the cars we drive. The horse’s appearance, in myth, in anthropological discoveries, and even in the symbolism of early psychology, reaffirms its power to help shape our world. The natural horse-human bond continues to evolve.
A new form of horse–human engagement, equine-facilitated learning (EFL), is taking the animal’s power to a surprising level, from helping to heal war veterans to playing a role in team-building for the business world. Coupled with energetic psychology, these structured exercises with equines are revealing paths to personal growth.
Join James Cassese, LCSW, of Equine Energetix, as he shares a lecture and interactive demonstration on this exciting new work and its ability to change our lives—as riders, as leaders, and as people on the road to self-discovery.
A natural intimacy occurs between humans and horses, an energy that, when focused through equine-guided exercises, provides a powerful opportunity for personal growth, self-awareness, and an understanding of how we relate to the world. This is the essence of the Equine Energetix approach.

Cultural mythology is filled with equine references, in which horses play pivotal roles in the human creative experience. The Greeks told of the great winged stallion Pegasus, who pawed the ground, and, from that spot, water flowed, a spring that, when poets and artists drank from it, inspired them to create. The horse-god’s movement of the earth to reveal the pantheon’s gift to man is a beautiful and apt metaphor for the creative process.
Creativity assumes many forms, most visibly in painting, sculpture, and film. Yet what is visible is creativity’s endpoint, its manifestation. Creativity itself is a process, a dynamic; not a product, but a flow, an approach, a state of mind. And it can come into play anywhere in our lives, from how we manage our finances to how we care for others to how we formulate ideas.
